Max Dereta is a freelance photographer based in the Netherlands since 1975. Initially he worked as an illustrator and graphic designer, and from 1980 as a professional photojournalist.

His international assignments include also carnival in Rio de Janeiro, wildlife in Alaska, Kenya and Zimbabwe, life with the nomads in Sahara and North Siberia, war in ex- Yugoslavia, air shows in Oshkosh, Le Bourget and Moscow, supersonic flights in Russian MiG 29 and flight to the Stratosphere in MiG 25. Max also participated in the Russian Space Training Program that included the Zero G flight.

Max made more than 6000 skydives with the helmet mounted cameras. He covered several World Skydiving Records, made B.A.S.E. jumps in the USA, Norway and Italy, jumped four times on the North Pole and landed on top of Mt. Elbrus in Caucasus.

His aerial, travel and (air)adventure features have been published in (inter)national magazines such as: Action Asia, AD Magazine, Air & Space, Cosmopolitan, Esquire, Focus, Holland Herald, National Geographic, Traveler, Nieuwe Revu, Panorama, Penthouse, Playboy, Robb Report, Seasons, Stern, etc.
